Chapter Six Dawson sat on his bed. He stared at Joey's drawing again. Doing the honorable, right thing ended up costing him his soulmate. Now, he was miles away from her, wondering what she was doing, what she was thinking, who she was turning to for advice and comforting. Also on Dawson's mind was his internship at the station. He was scheduled to start next Monday, but was able to talk his way into starting two days before that. This gave him and Pacey the whole week to explore the city of Philadelphia and enjoy part of the summer away from Capeside. Any plans of exploration would have to wait. Pacey was still sleeping, of course. Today was PACEY'S day to sleep past noon. Now, for the past couple of hours, he sat on his bed and stared at Joey's drawing on the wall. Memories of Joey, good and bad, flooded his mind. One memory in particular called out to him: 
Dawson was sitting on the swing set with Joey after their first official date. After Joey expressed her concern about her fear that their future would only compicate matters more than they already were, Dawson had said, "It's gonna be so simple, Jo." At the time, he truly believed that. Little did he know how things were going to turn out. He then realized how fleeting their second kiss was. He remembered walking her home that night, and standing with her on her porch. He fondly remembered the sweet kiss goodnight and the long embrace that followed. --continued-- |
