"I'm glad I didn't go to France," Joey had said with a gleam in her eyes. "So am I," Dawson had replied with a smile. "'night, Jo. Sweet dreams." Joey had nodded and smiled back at him. She opened the door and stood in the doorway. Then, Dawson noticed again exactly how absolutely beautiful she was. "If only things were going to be that simple, Jo," he said to himself as he stood up and walked over to the window. Again, he realized exactly how far in love with her he had fallen since the Miss Windjammer contest. Then, as fate would have it, reality came crashing down. Joey was now back at home, furious at him for making her turn in the only parent she had left. The only thing Dawson had to hang onto was the hope that she would forgive him eventually.
